Task. Working in the Depth O'Lumb, clearing and creating steps and handrails.
Five of us and Steve put some very hard work in today at the Depth's of Lumb, I had forgotten how far down it is to the bottom! We dug earth steps at
least two thirds of the way down, plus clearing the stone steps near the bridge, a post and new handrail was also put in place. Michael P.

Tuesday 15 Sept.
Depth O'Lumb part two Tuesday 16 September.
Another hard day and a potentially very wet start precluded much picture taking, most effort being devoted to staying upright and being able to do something.
Michael worked from the top enhancing the steps with Phil and others working lower down.Phil and associates then bent a small sapling round posts which Steve had provided to form a rustic handrail. Shown in the 3rd picture. Later another branch was used on the other side to create another improvised handrail. Which was a laudable good idea of best Boy Scout style, British improvisation.
I must say this was very welcome to hold on to and drag ourselves along, carting a heavy load of tools back up to the top at the end of the day. Pictures 4 & 5.
Michael adds,- "I would just like to add my thoughts on the day. 5 of us, without Steve (who was involved with the walk festival) had another good session at the Depths 'o Lumb, quite difficult to keep our footing after the recent rain, hence we did more work on the earth steps and fashioned a couple of hand rails, as per photo's. We still have some work to do on the grassy bank on the West side of Lumb brook, maybe next time. Thanks to all who took part".
