Again saw or motley crew continuing to work on this ancient stretch, achieving some good results. One more visit to this site in June should see the completion of our work here for this year. After which we will continue to monitor it.

Another project undertaken by our team of volunteers, the first stage of which was successfully completed.
A 150 year old path, known as Belper 68, was in need of some maintenance, a few of the stone slabs had become disturbed and an overhang of vegetation made this sloping path difficult to negotiate, especially in wet or icy conditions.
The team of six, mentored by Steve Cresswell of Derbyshire Countryside Service, set about clearing back the vegetation, mainly brambles, hawthorn and elder. A retaining wall was cleansed of foliage giving a clear outline to the path. Some of the slabs were realigned others levelled to make a better footway. There is still more to do, further down the path towards the flood meadows of the River Derwent, so another session will be planned once some necessary materials have been allocated to the project. Again we were all able to look back with pride in what we had achieved in just a few hours of good steady work.
