Footpath Maintenance

Our new man from Derbyshire County Council Richard Thomas was with us today for the first time, together with Steve Cresswell who now is to take a more supervisory role in Community Engagement with groups like ours.

The two stiles worked on this session were replaced by gates. The work involved clearing overgrown hedging before we could start then replacing an old stile with a new gate whilst across the field another stile had disintegrated completely and again holes were dug and posts put in and a new gate installed. The new chain arrangement can be seen which replaces the old hooks which seldom aligned securely.
