7 miles leader James W.

Weather 6°C. dry but breezy.

No. on walk 11

We set off on time up the lane passing the, Barley Mow, the Hen racing pub, eventually heading up Moor Lane leading to Blakelow Lane. When we got to the top the keenness of the wind was felt, so we back tracked a little hiding behind the wall for tea break. I think at this point John said we had climbed some 600ft. After tea we headed down the road to Brightgate, all hard surface so far, so it was about time to try some off-road heading to Lea Wood. We decided not to go to Jughole, as we’d seen enough mud for a while, instead heading along the lane to our lunch stop above Masson Lees farm. After lunch we made our way to the Heights of Abraham, pausing for a few minutes to look around then heading into the woods, expecting mud, but it was not too bad! Then to head back down the lane to St. James the Apostle, the parish church of Bonsall, some stopping for a coffee in the Fountain Café to warm up at about, the walk finishing around 1:45. James.
