A shorter walk, mostly good surfaces and a sprightly crew, saw us back at the car park by noon.

After a few words on path and road safety, we left the car park and walked three streets, Moseley, Wood and Outram, before entering onto, the feature of the walk today, Ripley Green Way, a lovely green artery, traversing through the town, with no traffic to worry about, except for a couple of road crossings. Two miles in all, after which we exited the Grenway, onto the Derby Road and set a foot into Denby, quickly crossing the B6179, the traffic, from both directions, slowing and indicating for us all to cross, thank you to them. We then made our way up the Upper Marehay Road, to the small recreation ground, where, at eleven o’clock, we paused for a comfortable morning break.

With the break over, we now followed the adjacent footpath, northwards, wood and scrub to our left and the grassy meadows of Marehay, visible on our right. After just over a half of mile on these paths, we crossed over a couple of good stiles, making our way through to cattle fields, to return to habitation via Ford Close. We now walked along the excellent footways, pavements to the non-ramblers, eventually making our way back into the memorial Gardens, passing around the Band Stand and making our way back into the car park at the town hall end. Good company, plenty of chat, oh alright, conversation which made for a lovely walk. Thanks to all.
