17 of us met at Hartington on a fine day that was chilly at times. We set off through Hartington and up past the Youth Hostel. Next we headed towards Heathcote by way of well made tracks, trying to avoid muddy puddles, then over one of the many stiles and up to the village. We changed direction, walking across fields towards the High Peak Trail and the old railway station where we stopped for our morning break. A very easy walk along the Trail with great views all around and it was soon time for lunch which was taken at Parsley Hay visitors centre. After our break we began the return towards Hartington, first across fields to Darley Farm then to Vincent House. From here we walked along a minor road then up over fields towards Carder Low. Finally we descended towards the River Dove but stayed up on the hillside. Lovely views of distant hills, the calls sheep and lambs, a few more tricky stiles and one extremely muddy field and we were back onto a minor road for our return towards Hartington the market place. Frankie.
