From the free carpark on Canterbury Road, we made our way up to the Star Disc via the steep ascent of Dale End / Green Hill. After a brief stop continued on the track between the quarries and then onto ‘fairly solid’ pasture lane to the High Peak Trail. Coffee stop, on the dry picnic tables at Middleton Top. Continuing on the Trail past Steeple Grange narrow gauge railway and Black Rocks and then turning right onto the Midshires Way for about one mile before stopping for a well=earned break for lunch. Shortly afterwards turning right over ‘good pasture land’ past Wigwellnook Farm to Oakerthorpe Road and down to Bolehill. Then taking the fairly steep descent back to Wirksworth.  Some of us were very surprised, but pleased, that they had ‘almost’ clean boots!! Dave.
