A good turnout of walkers as usual.

We set off at 10.00 through the village, turning through a quite overgrown stoney foot path 

Reaching a road, which we walked along at a good pace for a couple of miles, until we crossed the A515 with great care. The traffic certainly goes at a great speed. We had our coffee at the bicycle hire stop, on the high peak trail. Plenty of benches and a very nice little cafe which some of us used. Back over the A515, taking our life in our hands again. This time we turned up the long rake road towards Arbor low. This was our destination for lunch. Unfortunately, we had to go on the road and a farm track as there is no public footpath that I know of which goes to the Low.

How ever by the time we had reached the Low, the sun was out and we had a wonderful view right over the white peak. We enjoyed our lunch and walked around the whole, very large area. It must have taken some considerable manpower to build such a large monument and as the notice boards said we can only guess why it was built 6000 years ago.

We retraced our steps along farm drive to the long rake road but then turned right. In about 1/4 of a mile, we turned up along a well-marked footpath, which eventually turned into a track that led back to Monyash. The village at the end of our walk looked quite sparkling in the autumn sunshine. 6.5 miles of easy walking with many beautiful autumn trees to enjoy. Jane
