Weather 15°C. Dull
No. on walk 23
23 of us assembled today in Monyash. I was expecting less because it was a wet morning, but it soon cleared up. In fact we only had two minutes of light rain . It then dried up, but remained cloudy and coolish. Amazingly around 15 to 17 degrees, last week it was 30 degrees! We started through the village, then down beside the church, along the Limestone Way. We turned down another easy to follow footpath across the high limestone plateau. Everything looks very dry after this summer and now turning autumnal. A bit of road walking along quiet roads, to regain the Limestone Way, again turning back towards Monyash. Lunch in a field with no cows. Most of the fields had lots of cows, but they didn't bother us. The last part of the walk was down into Cales Dale, going down the very large flight of steps. Then along a rocky path into Lathkill Dale. This last part of the dale is very rocky, but picturesque. We finally came up to the top of the dale by the toilets. Then the final 1/2 mile into Monyash. The cafe was very crowded, so we gave it a miss. 7 1/2 miles and quite a slow walk, involving some climbing over large stiles. Jane.
