6.4 miles Leader Frankie L.
Weather 14°C. dry but murky
No on walk 19
19 of us met in Wirksworth and 19 completed the walk. Most of the morning was spent gradually ascending out of Wirksworth. It was quite misty but we still had good views around us. We had our morning break at the trig point then made our way through some rocky woodland, full of gorgeous autumn colours, to reach the Black Rocks car park and facilities. We crossed the road and headed towards Middleton by way of moorland, old lead workings, taking in views of the enormous working quarry en route, a bit more ascent then lunch in the Millennium gardens. After a good break another ascent took us up to Middleton Moor. We crossed the High Peak Trail and walked over open pasture land then through the disused Dale Quarry. From this point Wirksworth was not far away and we arrived back in the centre at 2.10.Frankie .
