10 of us met at Hay wood car park this morning. It promised to be a very hot day 27 to 28°C. with lots of sunshine. So, it proved to be especially in the afternoon when the cloud of the morning had been burnt away. But up here on the edges where we were, there was a lovely cool breeze which made the walk very pleasant. Summer was here at last and it was lovely to walk without mud. The edges were so lovely in the sunshine. Heather was out in some places and birds were singing. We saw a couple of deer close to the start, they looked at us but didn't stop eating or move away
This was a fairly easy walk, we did four edges, White edge, Baslow edge, Froggatt edge, Curber edge and had amazing views all the way without a lot of climbing up and down. So, 8 miles in all but not too exhausting. Jane.
