No on walk 20 + 3 Dogs

A walk, just a bit different from our usual style of walk, this mainly on hard surfaces in and around the streets and ginnels of Duffield. A couple of fields to the west of the village thrown in as a bonus, plus a little excursion, passing by the Golf Club. We had our morning break overlooking part of the course. Our walk included two major points of interest, one being a climb up the steps to view the site of the former Duffield Castle, basically the top of a mound or hill, showing the footings of the original building, it’s been this way for over seven hundred years, now in the care of the National Trust, it seems their sole job here is to keep the grass cut and information boards tidy. The other point of interest was to view, from a footbridge over the Ecclesbourne Railway, the work carried out to the line after the disastrous landslip of over a year ago. The line just needs a test train to run it before it will be back in service, just right for the upcoming back to the 40’s weekend Friday 14th, Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th June  the Event includes · Displays · Traders & Re-Enactors · Friday Programme · Saturday Programme. We also viewed the recently built, fish ladder, when we crossed over the River Ecclesbourne, a gradual rise now instead of the former weir. I was quite pleased with the turnout and the interest shown. We were back in the car park by twelve thirty.
