Amber Valley Ramblers Derbyshire

Leading the way in Amber Valley

More work on the Ecclesbourne Way 18 July 2017
Today our Work Group tackled stiles at several locations on the Ecclesbourne Way around Postern Farm, in conjunction with the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust. Pictured is a stile to be made more passable with an improved step to avoid a long drop on one side. Next can be seen group members led by Michael Poyser working on access over a ditch. In the background some members are working to level the concrete bridge, which had a troublesome cant, they were successful in their efforts. Here, also the gate was improved and a further gate installed on the other side of the ditch.
Paths along the route were walked and stiles inspected with further cutting back of invasive growth. The area awaits Ecclesbourne Way way-markers on this section and intending walkers will find the route being improved for access as funding allows. More work in August will bring us to the end of this phase of our involvement with the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, who have been an immense support to us and those who will ramble these paths. Although, only officially opened just over a week ago, we have witnessed walkers, leafleted guide in hand, making their way along the trail.
