Amber Valley Ramblers Derbyshire

Leading the way in Amber Valley

Walk Diary Sunday 10 December 2017
Duffield 8 miles Leader: Jane H.
No. on walk 6

Well the weather forecast was terrible, deep snow starting in the morning and continuing all day. Traffic warnings ‘don’t go out!’ But Amber Valley Ramblers are not to be deterred. 6 of us met on Duffield Church car park. I had to be there, I was leading!! It was snowing, but not very heavily. Just enough to make the country side appear a “winter wonderland “. What would have been a pleasant, but not wonderful, walk was transformed to one of great beauty and easy underfoot. Lovely crunchy snow, crisp and even. We did 8 miles in all around Duffield, Little Eaton, Breadsall, Morley, Drum Hill, then back to Duffield. We were back by 1.40. Too cold for long stops. It had largely stopped snowing by 12.00 and the roads were clear for our journeys back. So all in all a very good day.
